There is a $375 fee for climbing Denali or Foraker, unless you are under 24, then the fee is $275.00, plus a park entrance fee of $15 per person. You must register 60 days in advance for Denali and Foraker.
Special Use Fees for the NPS went up to $450/$350

Orientation

Appointments are required for all orientations. Teams should contact the Talkeetna Ranger Station to schedule an appointment, time slots can fill up fast. Appointments are available from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., seven days a week. Expeditions should arrive 30 minutes prior to the appointment time to pay the special use permit and park entrance fees.

Note: If you plan to climb with a guide, make certain that the service is authorized by Denali National Park and Preserve. Each year climbers mistakenly pay illegal guides that advertise their services. Illegal guiding is prohibited, and these climbs could be canceled at any time.

TAT Note: After May 1st, we are open until 9:00 pm. Shuttles are familiar with dropping expeditions at our main office or the Bunkhouse.

Your Flight

TAT has a ground crew of rampers and office staff to assist you in preparing for your expedition. They can assist in giving you a ride locally and shuttling your gear to the correct airplane.
You are allowed 125 lbs/gear per person, anything after that you will be charged $2/lb overage. All bags must be weighed with your expedition name, and weight of the bag on each bag tag, TAT will provide tags for your bags. Any personal bags left behind at TAT can be stored, the bags must be marked clearly with your name.

You will be put on the flight list after you have completed the following:
1. Check in with NPS
2. Weigh your gear
3. Pay for your flight

If delayed by weather, be ready to fly at 8:00 AM the following day.

Denali Base Camp (KAH)

From May through early July the air services of Talkeetna jointly operate Base Camp on the southeast fork of the Kahiltna Glacier. Our Base Camp Manager, welcomes you to the 7,200 ft. tent village that serves as a jumping off point for climbers ascending routes on Denali, Hunter, and Foraker.

General Info

  • Coleman fuel is available at Base Camp; pay at TAT and pick up at KAH. Isobutane must be claimed and flown in with your expedition.
  • Sleds are available for rent at the TAT office. Sleds may or may not be rigged – so bring sled rigging with you (4mm and/or 6 mm).
  • The Base Camp Manager operates a family band radio to transmit weather information every morning and evening at 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM on channel 1.
  • Check-in with Base Camp Manager when you get back from your climb and s/he will call TAT when your entire team is at Base Camp to arrange your pick-up.
Important: Fuel must be claimed as Hazmat. Once at the glacier, move gear **OFF the runway** immediately after offloading.
